| SPORT MASSAGE |
As the name suggests, many people are so convinced of the benefits of this form of massage that they have incorporated it into their training. Another use, quickly growing at the moment, is in personal fitness programmes.
Sports massage depends first upon the qualified masseur gaining a detailed understanding of an individual’s personal needs, Then, and only then, will intensive massage be applied to carefully located parts of the body.
A first consultation will therefore begin with questions about your medical history, present state of health, the types of physical activity vigourously undertaken and any problems encountered. No session is shorter than one hour.
The massage is technically defined as 'deep'; powerful pressure is applied and there may be pain, but followed by relief.
Some benefits are immediate while others occur over a period of time.

| BENEFITS |
Competitive physical activity involves your muscles, tendons and joints being pushed to their limit. They also 'burn' large amounts of energy which leave behind waste products such as lactic acid.
These can accumulate and become deeply lodged causing painful stiffness and tension. Neglect may lead to a sports injury. Sports massage works to remove these problems with the twin aims of preventing any future injuries but also raising performance to a fresh pitch.
Regular sessions are recommended.
Sports massage is also proving beneficial in the world outside of sporting fitness, in situations where an individual may have a physically demending job or one causing high levels of stress. Regular sessions after a close consultation with the masseur may help to deal with common conditions such as:
|
- Backache & Sciatica
- Repetitive Strain Injury
- Joint Pains
- Muscle Stiffness
